Pan makes a clumsy apology. All visit Baoyu;
all have soup, which he tricks sullen Silver
into drinking; the soup is later knocked over his hand, but he doesn’t notice.
He sits and talks with Oriole, who
is knotting for him, and Baochai. Lady
Xing sends him some fruit, some of which he asks to be taken to Daiyu.
