Xifeng, very drunk, slips away from the party
and finds Lian in flagrante with a servant’s wife. Patience is in the middle of
a violent domestic before the others interrupt. Baoyu and the girls lift
Patience’s spirits, and Lian apologises to all the next day. The servant’s wife
has killed herself; Lian negotiates a settlement.
